PROJET Phonègeste

L’objectif de Phonègeste est d’exploiter le caractère incarné du langage pour faciliter l’apprentissage de phonèmes d’une langue étrangère. Des adultes francophones apprendront des consonnes du mandarin accompagnées ou non de gestes manuels illustrant leur mode et/ou leur lieu d’articulation. Nous examinerons si l’imitation des gestes manuels améliore la discrimination et la production des phonèmes non natifs comparé à un apprentissage audiovisuel classique.

The aim of Phonègeste is to take advantage of the embodiment of language to facilitate the learning of foreign language phonemes. Healthy native French-speaking adults will learn Mandarin consonants with or without manual gestures that illustrate their manner and/or place of articulation. We will examine whether imitating manual gestures improves discrimination and production of non-native phonemes compared to a classical audiovisual training.
