Transfer of technology
ASLAN's constituent laboratories have a long history of partnerships with the private sector, which have resulted in technology transfers such as the creation of three start-ups: CogniK, Techlimed and ARADIC.
CogniK (2009), co-founded by Kris Lund and two INSA engineers from Lyon (V. Tauzia and S. Reynaud), provides innovative solutions for media companies. World first: Creation of MyNickelodeon Junior, a personalized edutainment channel for interactive television for children (with Viacom). Several tens of thousands of channels have been created. Cognik characterizes and personalizes multimedia content for different audiences.
SpeakPlus, is a company created in 2014 with the collaboration of Nicolas Guichon (University Professor at the ICAR laboratory), and operating in the distance learning sector. It offers language training by videoconference. The courses are given by qualified native coaches, and language learning is both flexible and individualized, to guarantee the best results. At its launch, the SpeakPlus platform offers courses in French, English and Spanish.
JANUS, Mixed representation for agile decision making, is a project following a Pro ASLAN meeting with Olivier Wathelet, doctor in anthropology, then innovation project manager at SEB. The JANUS project notably involved Kris Lund from the ICAR laboratory, and Guy Prudhomme, from the G-SCOP laboratory. The expertise of LabEx ASLAN researchers in the analysis of language behaviours, such as argumentation and explanation of decision-making, was put to work on this project. The collaboration with SEB aimed to facilitate decision-making in innovation projects using collaborative methods.
SKILDER is a project involving Matthieu Quignard from the ICAR laboratory, Pierre de Sousa, founder of the start-up SKILDER, and Stéphane Donner, correspondent at the SATT PULSALYS. PULSALYS was useful in helping the company to identify the ICAR laboratory as a privileged partner within the scientific perimeter. SKILDER aims to develop a solution to optimize the recruitment process based on relational skills, or soft skills, through a professional interaction simulation platform. With the help of automatic language processing, it will then be possible to identify the skills sought in candidates, such as empathy, persuasion, or self-assertion.
